Keep Your Enemies Close: FAQs Calm the Allies Heat

If you are one of the people who are still really concerned about the possibility of Allies creating "broken combos," I would like you to a look at the FAQs posted this morning and comb through them. For the most part, allies, even brothers in arms can hold hands a little, but the full blown full-frontal festival many expected has been limited back to the realms of sanity. There are also some strange

40k 6th Edition Rulebook Art at a Glance!

Old School here with the first part of a series of 6th edition that will start with the artwork in this post and progress through the fluff, the rules and eventually how each of our authors and contributor feels about their army's new rules and allies, with an open-minded view because we are all learning this together!

Anyway, the DFG crew in Lansing got a hold of the rulebook first and shot some pics of the new artwork, which features hellish landscapes and wicked creatures. Keep in mind that they were taken with a phone and click on the photos to enlarge them if you need. Enjoy:

The Yellow Necron Swarm Scuttles to War!

Old School here with my kill points for this week's Painting Challenge. This time, it's more Necron Warriors and a batch of scarabs for my Yellow Necron Army - which will likely start hanging out with some Chaos and Orks (as if yellow wasn't crazy enough on its own). Let's take a closer look at this week's effort!

The Grotesque Files: Subject #7, The Twins!

Old School here with Subject #7 of the Grotesque Project. Tonight's creature is not one, but two creatures living in one body! I love this freak show! This guy took a little bit of TLC to build, so let's take a look!

The Grotesque Files: Subjects #5 and #6, The Poker and the Grabber

Old School here with two more subjects from the laboratories of the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose. I snatched these two Grotesques from Wolfson after he primed them so I could get this photo to you all! Today's Subjects are the Poker (on the left) and the Grabber! Both are based off of the Isle of Blood Rat Ogre kit. The Poker

It Came From the Forums: Major Tom's Four Generations of Awesome!

Old School here with another edition of It Came From the Forums and this one is a killer! MajorTom11 at Dakka has left us with an amazing army that tugs at my heartstrings. I have seen Genestealer cults before and many have been impressive, but this the best I have ever seen. It reminds me of Prometheus, but the good Major left us these before the movie. One of great things about this post, is that I get to show you some concept sketches, sculpts and then the real, painted model. Strap in, pics incoming!

Da' Dakkajet

Hello Everyone,

General Chaos here with my latest painting update. I present to you my Evil Sunz Dakkajet. Man, was this model was a joy to build and paint. I love the look and design of the kit. It appears to be based off the Russian MiG 15. The model has quite a bit of customization, besides the three build types (Dakkajet, Burna Bommber, Blitz Bomber) . You can build the wings in a swept up or a swept down configuration by added another piece to the wings and the tail section can be build in three different locations. There are quite a few areas you can mount the Supa-shootas, even a couple I never thought of after seeing some other peoples Jets. Also there's a couple new pilot heads that will make there way into my Stormboyz bitz box :)

I went with the swept up look. I also magnetized the guns and bomb mounts on underside of the wing so I can build the other configuration as well, I don't care what the internet says I love the Orky goodness of the Blitz Bommer! With all the rumors in the white dwarf it looks like fliers will be a interesting part in the "New" 40k universe and am looking forward to it.

Yellow Necron Immortals march to War!

Old School here with another kill point for our Painting Challenge. This week, I enter my first squad of Necron immortals. These guys got the same treatment paint-wise as my warriors, but the difference in the quality of the models speaks for itself in how these came out compared to them. Let's take a look!

The Grotesque Files: Subject #4, The Lasher!

Old School here with anothe subject from the Grotesque labs. Subject #4 is called the Lasher. Originally a rat ogre primed and ready to join Wolfson's Skaven, the dark engineer (myself) repurposed this creature using parts from the Talos kit!

Dropzone Games: Simply the Best FLGS!

Old School here to introduce you to a place I already consider the best game store I have ever been to: Dropzone Games! This store made me feel at home as soon as I walked in between the amazing customer service, the incredible painting stations and the great assortment of game tables and gaming memorabilia on the walls. I felt like I had walked into Adepticon, but on a smaller scale.

The following article contains tons of pictures from the store, my thoughts and information straight from one of the founders, Tom Gruhala (who provided the amazing customer service mentioned above).

Hiv Fleet Behemoth Swarmlord; The Bane of Calgar!

Old School here to present my Hive Fleet Behemoth Swarmlord to the world. I slowly fell in love with using Swarmy in my lists over the spring and finally decided to get him built when the model came out, but really took some time when it came to painting him. Now that he is done, I am happy that I took my time (well, between Death Wing and Crons anyway). Here are some pics of the big guy!

The Grotesque Files: Subject #2, The Squirter!

The next Grotesque subject from the labs of the Kabal of the Obsidian Rose has been called the Squirter by the Haemonculus (OST). This is the second model I have made for Wolfson's Dark Eldar Foot list. I wanted to make his liquifier armed Grotesque a little less bestial than some of the rat ogre and minotaur based models you will see over the next couple of days.

The Speed Freaks are coming!

Hello Everyone,
General Chaos here with a painting update. Yah, yah am not in the paint challenge but I thought I'd share anyways. I don't have a CVinton painting sweat shop in my basement, so I do what I can when I can :)

I present to you my Evil Sunz Ork Warboss on Warbike.

The Grotesque Files, Subject #1, The Ripper!

Old School here to kick off a series of posts on the Grotesque squad I have been converting for Wolfson's Dark Footdar army. The grotesque unit is a centerpiece of the web way portal delivery system and therefore, a center peice for the army as a whole. Wolfson has done a lot for me hobby-wise, so I wanted to give back by making his grotesques.

Battle Report: Craftworld Eldar vs Deathwing!

Old School here with a battle report between Wolfson's Craftworld Eldar and my Death Wing at the newly opened Dropzone Games in Glen Burnie, Md. This game was a lot of fun and had its share of twists and turns and reminded me how Wolfson finally got me from the sidelines to being a player so many years ago. Anyway, here it is:

Hobby Time With SeerK

SeerK here with a hobby article in place of the battle report I was writing.  I kind of got distracted painting.  Well with 5th Edition 40k in its twilight hours I have still been playing, but working on the back log of hobby projects on my desk. I have my entire Grey Knights army base coated and I am working up the motivation to get the detail work done along with the basing. I have also been painting a few models in the Eldar army that have needed some attention. Most notably my bike council and my last Wraithlord. I have also been building my third War Walker squadron.

Win a Chaos Marine Army, Join the Black Crusade, Help Charity!

Old School here to help get the word out about the Black Crusade 2012, a multi-hobbyist project that will create a beautiful Chaos Space Marine over the coming weeks and GIVE it away to a lucky ticket holder! The project is another great charity army designed by some of the same folks (including Dave Taylor) who brought you the Storm Wardens and the Heroes of Armeggedon -- all for the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund.

For more information here is the details straight from the project's blog:

The Yellow Destroyer Rises!

Old School here with more yellow Necron action and, of course, another kill point for our painting challenge. I built this Destroyer Lord months ago and have wanted to paint it ever since, so once I got the yellow crons where I wanted them, I went straight to the lord! Let's take a look at him ...

Necrons Group Shot

Per special request here's the group shot of what I've done of the necrons so far. It is 100% kp's from the painting challenge and I skipped a week. Keep with the program and you'll have an 1850 painted army in no time!

"Rise of the Lascannon" Round 2..... FIGHT!: Battle Report

As you all know I recently started a new list that is really different. The reasons why and what the list is can be found here. Now I have played my second game with this list, and against Grey Knights at that against DFG's very own... The Judge.

Week 6 Painting Challenge Round Up

Week 6 round up coming in.  We have some great submissions from Modian7th as well as from Leadlegion.

Yellow Test Necrons

Old School here with my weathered Necron Test Warriors ... which I am going to pass off as my KP this week since they are technically a KP. Anyway, bottom line up front: I have owned my Crons for quite some time and have been looking for an easy and effective way to paint them that will enable me to get them up and running (and looking good) while not taking too much away from knocking out the stragglers from my Death Wing or from the monumental paint project that is my Hive Fleet Behemoth. Anyway, this is likely going to be the last crappy photo shoot I have with my old camera (I am buying a new one), so while the colors didn't pop the way they do in real life, you will see more of the crons in the weeks to come, so enjoy the photos.

Wolfson's Khymera KP

Straight out of Commorraghs delightful nightmares comes my KP for the week.  The khymera are vicious beasts torn straight out of nightmares and used by my Dark Eldar in a much larger beast pack.  Lets take a look!

Lascannons arise! The Rebirth of my foot-guard, and the death of Chimera spam

So a couple weeks ago I had decided to try out a new list (for a reminder on the list, or if you didn't read it the first time, here is a link to the article.) This list... its gone to the cleaners... and will never return. After three games I have thrown in the towel. I know, I know, I promised to give it 10 full games, but 3 was all it took to realize that the list just was not going to work.

Video Battle Report - Spearhead Orks vs. Space Wolves

Hello Everyone,

General Chaos here with another video battle report. This time we are playing with the Spearhead expansion rules. It was 1850 points with my Orks verses Jon's Space Wolves. I got to dust off the Stompa for some super-heavy walker fun. Thanks for watching.
