Death Star Update.... no more orks...

So with great sadness I have to report my orks will not be making their appearance in the team tournament as planned. Unfortunately I had to move for a new job and both things combined meant that I was not getting things done in time.

Fear not however, for there still shall be an appearance by the mighty Lord Solar Steve and the rest of the team. Instead I am playing a guard list that is very death starry... in fact I believe I am fielding the main gun from the Death Star...

That's right... I am fielding the magnificent Deathstrike Missile Launcher... protected by 3 Leman Russ Executioners with side sponson plasma cannons... Here is the full list just for kicks... it might change up a bit but so far this seems like the best options for most fun.

Heavy 1
Leman Russ Executioner + S.S. Plasma Cannons x3

Heavy 2
Deathstrike Missile Launcher

Troop
Vet. Squad w/plasma gun & Lascannon

HQ
Techpriest Enginseer

That's it... 4 kill-points of awesome...

Oh and just to let my opponents in on a great secret... so maybe you'll let me shoot the Deathstrike Missile Launcher... Every time It goes off... I am taking a shot... so.... fun times!!!!!!

Cannot wait to see everyone again this year and enjoy ourselves!

Until next time, burn some heretics, kill some mutants, and do it always....

The Test Of Khaine: April 14th

Well the Test was so popular last year we are doing it again.  This Test Of Khaine will take place on April 14th at Evolution Games.  The tournament will start promptly at 11 am and as Long as I can get Farseer Rerolls to open early registration will start at 10 AM.  It will be 1850 pts and no Foregworld Rules are allowed.  Standard force org is in full effect.  There will be 3 missions which will be posted this coming week.  Armies do not have to be painted, but a 3 color standard is encouraged as there will be prizes for best painted army.
The theme again will be Strength, Speed and Cunning.  Will General Chaos and his Orks Meet Khaines Challenges once again?  Or will a new Young King take the mantle?

May 5th 40k RTT @ Titan's, Battle Creek Michigan!

Hello all,

General Chaos here with an announcement! I got the next tournament scheduled. This one will be an RTT style tournament with painting and sportsmanship scores. So get painting and start working on that opening handshake! Hope to see a turnout like last time! Here is the info:

Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch

I just wanted to post a quick hobby post about the spray paints and primers I have been using lately for all of my armies. I had been having trouble in the ever-changing Michigan climate with different primers I have tried "fuzzing" and ruining models. Even worse, I've had some finish coats fuzz and ruin already detailed and painted models... so I began to look for alternatives to GW, Armory, and other hobby primers.

New Empire Models Pics and Conversion Discussion

Old School here to show off the WHFB Empire models from the new White Dwarf. First off and foremost,  these models represent fully the depth of creativity GW is finding with its plastic productions, it huge Fantasy models and also with its ability to pull more than one unit from the same plastic kit. When I look at new Fantasy plastics, I look at progress, potential and conversion opportunities. Let's take a look at the pics and also see if there are any conversion ideas out there while we are at it.

Simply the Best Gaming Tools: Templates, Wreck Markers and More!

Old School here to talk about a company that makes all the right tools. I would like to say that first off, the basement and garage dweller in me doesn't require special equipment, but the tournament player in me gets a special feeling inside when he sees something that makes things in the game easy for both players and any action completely unambiguous, so it is only natural that I got excited when I saw the blast marker slide template above at a recent tourney. Not only does it work for large blasts, but small ones too.

Pre-Heresy Terminators from Forge World

Old School here to help further push the news out there that Forge World has finally released a Pre-Heresy pattern Terminator armor set; the Tartaros Pattern! This should help those who are looking for full Pre-Heresy armies round out their forces and for me, it means that I can make some really sick Chaos Terminators.

Tournament Wrap Up: Pre-Depticon Pics and Results!

Old School here with the Wrap up Report for this past weekend's Pre-Depticon tournament. This was a really great tourney and from a TO's perspective, a great group of players because they made my job super easy and gave me some time to snap some pics of the action, the eye candy and the absurd moments that happen in tournament play. Above is our Winner of the Player's Choice Award: Tau4eva's Blood Angels! This was a well-deserved Player's Choice award and he didn't do too badly with it, placing 4th overall! Let's take a look at the other players and awardees:

Hobby Tip Video: Pre-Shading with an Airbrush

Hello Everyone,

General Chaos here with a hobby tip video. A friend of mine who plays Blood Angels gave me a bunch of his vehicles to base coat for him. Since they wasn't mine I decided to experiment with them. I seen a couple guides on pre-shading and thought I'd try it out. What's pre-shading? Well, If you ever look at a well worn airplane you'll notice there's weathering around the sheet metal panels that make up the shell. Like this

Well I was toying around with it and thought I'd create a video, after seeing how the Stormraven came out, on a bunch of razorback/rhinos. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for watching.

Pre Depticon Round 2 pics!

Here we are in round 2. Right now, there is a four way lead of Blood Angels, Necrons, Orks and Daemons!

Pre Depticon Begins! First Round Pics.

First round has begun and the field is heavy with crons, BA with some daemons, Orks, templars and Dark Angels Greenwing rounding out the field. Enjoy the pics, expect a full aftermath post tonight or tomorrow!

New Citadel Paint Charts!

Old School here and I am very happy to say that the new Citadel Paint Chart is out there. I pulled these two off of Miniature Wargame Conversion. This is very exiting and I am pumped to see a hint of what the new colors and styles are. Needless to say, I will be much happier when I see the paint in person! For now, we just have these two images!

Video Battle Report: Ultramarines vs. Blood Angels

General Chaos here with another Video Battle report. I got a game in this weekend at Titan's Entertainment Cafe in Battle Creek, MI. We played a 1850 game with my Ultramarines vs. Jeremy's Blood Angels. It was pitched battle and we used all the book missions at the same time with who ever winning the most missions declared the winner. It was a real power armor slap fight. Hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.

Drinking Games for Warhammer 40k! We Share ours, Let's Hear Yours!

Old School here and with St. Patrick's Day upon us, what kind of people would we be if we didn't take the time to post up some great ways for (over 21) gamers to add beer drinking to the actual tabletop gaming affair (warning, this is beyond beer and pretzels!)

Video Battle Report: 13th Company vs Orkz!

Hello everyone,
General Chaos here as a new contributor for DFG. This video battle report is the first of many video battle reports we will be posting on this site.

This was a battle between myself and DFG's own CVinton at Fortress Comics and Games in East Lansing, MI. We played a 1850 point game, the deployment was spearhead, and we used all the book missions at the same time. Whoever won the most mission type objectives was the winner. It was a real roller coaster of a game that could of went either way. I hope you enjoy and feel free to make comments.

Necron Wraiths round 3 (with bonus Triarch Stalker!)

After seeing OST's new wraiths I was inspired to go back and fix mine.  Though I was happy with how the old ones turned out but the grass is always greener and after getting the tentacle maker from Green stuff industries, I simply had to redo them.

Necron Triarch Stalker Conversion

Old School here posting up my first Triarch Stalker conversion. This conversion follows closely to what I would believe is the current standard for the stalker in basic form, but let's take a look at the big bug!

Necron Warrior Conversion Tutorial: Ditch the Green Rods!

Old School here with a quick, easy and effective tutorial for improving your Necron Warriors. For a long time, many Necrons (and non-Necron) players have complained about the green, plastic rods used for Gauss weapons. I particularly don't like them, but at the same time, I wouldn't pay extra money to replace them, so instead, I used what was on hand ...

New Space Wolf Thunder Wolves and Wolf Lord Model Review!

So GW finally released a thunder wolf kit.  Day late and a dollar short, but as a lover of all things space wolves, I had to get some.  Since everyone already has their wolves from 3rd party companies I imagine the popularity of the kit is low.  I'll put it out there though, that even though I already have some wolves, I'll be using the GW ones.  Its a super cool kit and to cut right to the meat of this, I'd recommend picking a box or two up.

Cheap and Easy Necron Reanimationtion Protocol/ Everliving Tokens

Old School here tonight with a quick idea for Reanimationtion Protocol or Everliving tokens/ markers (obviously these are not fully painted yet). Now, I know some folks out there want to tip your models over and that's fine with me, but I like the completest idea of having everything handled, like markers for Quantum Shielding and the protocols and ...

Press Molding Necron Scarabs with Milliput and Green Stuff (Interesting Findings)

Old School here to talk about Press Molding Necron Scarabs. This article will cover the basics of press molding and then will also cover my finding and differences between Milliput and Green Stuff as a medium. I know some of this information is really basic for some, but I have never used Milliput for Press Molding and I am sure I am not the only person who would be curious. Anyway, Let's get started:
