DFG Painting Challenge: Hornblower's Death Company Dreadnought!

Seems like Hornblower is blowing us up on the painting challenge. He sent this to me a few days ago and I got lazy with real life stuff taking precedence (that happens...occasionally...)

Chalk another DFG Painting Challenge entry up for Hornblower.

I have actually had this done for a bit over a week now, but I had a feeling I'd be sandbagged by CVinton, so, I'm sharing this now to sandbag the sandbagger!

To go along with last week's Death Company, I add the Death Company Dreadnought. This was painted using the same methods as the Death Company themselves.

I'm quite happy with how he turned out. I'm very pleased with the skulls, the reds and the claws. Definitely in my signature clean style, his lines are sharp and he looks ready to kick some serious a$*&!%. He is eagerly awaiting his brother's arrival, the Furioso Dreadnought with twin Blood Fists. But I have a feeling his ride is going to get finished first . . .

'Til next time.

  1. Very nice!

Did you use straight black on the Dread or did you mix it up with something else?

  2. Where did you get that awesome base?

  3. @ GunGrave:

The black is a fairly simple method.

    Prime Black
Paint on a watered down Chaos Black
    Drybrush Codex Grey
    Light Drybrush Skull White
Heavy inking of Badab Black Wash.

Repeat wash until desired shade of black is reached.

I picked them up here: http://www.forgecraftgames.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=30

I am very pleased with the bases and thought their prices were very fair. I'd buy from them again.
