First up is Dezmord's Necrons, dubber the Harbingers of the Storm, these crons are some of the best I have ever seen. The monolith above has an excellent conversion in the form of a huge tomb spiderish head and along with an awesome paintjob, it gives a nod to the Necron's roots with the old scarab models attached to the hull.
There are a lot of things I like about these crons, the white faces, the blue gauss tubes and the freehanded border on the shoulders
... and moving on to the Guard, Dezmord doesn't have a ton of Guard posted in his Guard Hobby Log, but what he does have is nice, including these storm troopers (hailed as one of the best boxes GW made for guard).
Now, here are a couple of interesting conversions. I am no guard expert, but this seems to be a conversion based of Lord Solar on the left and the Techpriest is something slightly different than any I have seen before either.
Vostroyans ... everytime I see Vostroyans, I wish I had just picked up that army that Sabol was selling at Adepticon last year! Awesome models!
Now, moving onto a few samples of the vast Bad Moons Rising Project Log Dezmord keeps on Warseer. I am a big fan of the toof-rich, ork ballers that are the Bad Moons and these ones are no exception.
Whether you look at the greenskins here or their vehicles, everything is done so well, bright yellow, even skintones, conversions ... it all looks very good.
I love the little purple squig on this Mega Nob below with his little iron gobbo!
Now we move onto Dezmord's Daemons and CSM. Anyone who has followed DFG for a while know that I, for one, love my evil critters and Dezmord has done them right, starting with fellows like this FW herald riding a rather nasty palanquin!
Throughout all of the daemon models, what really impresses me is the skintones and the blending throughout the collection. Make sure you visit his project log to see other feats of paintdom, like Daemonettes wearing eyeshadow ... and it really looks like they are!
The Tzeentch Marines on this log are also very good, I prefer the dark blue with hard bright highlights to the Eavy Metal version of Tsons as Dezmord shows here - the gold is also exceptional.
TSon Defiler done right, take notes!
Alright, even closer to my heart of late that Chaos Marines and their Warp born counterparts are the tyranids and when I first saw this log a year ago I was also building my own nid army. At the time, I wasn't really sure how much I wanted to commit to the nids and thought that a codex scheme might be better for resale in the event I didn't want to continue the army, so I went with Hive Fleet Kraken - but I have wished for the entire year I have played Nids that I went with a scheme like Hive Fleet Apophis. The colors are perfect and executed with an expert hand as you can see with Dezmord's work:
Below is his take on the Parasite of Mortex:
A rather intense Mawloc:
Space Hulk Genestealers:
The white weapons on the Hive Guard and other creautures really work well. The balance of contrasting colors motivates me and I may just have to start my own Apophis Hive in honor.
Here is his Tyrannofex, a great use of bits and a vey tough looking bug.
And last but certainly not least a Tervigon:
This is by no means the sum of the artist's work, folks, check out the links above and follow the further links in his signature to see even more from each of these armies. Each is its own example of what a skilled painter can do and more often than not, there are guides written throughout the threads as to how he achieved each paintscheme or how he pulled off a conversion. Examples like this are exactly why I do these articles. So check out Dezmord's work and let him know what you think.
Love the nids, but those Thousand Sons are INCREDIBLE.
ReplyDeletethat techpriest is the titan techpriest from forge world
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, some beautiful examples of a great painting skill.
ReplyDeleteI've just stumbled over your blog and I'm impressed, that my work is mentioned here - glad you all like it! Unfortunately, warseer is down ATM, otherwise I would have pointed you to my gargantuan additions for the 'Nids, the Scythed Hierodule and the Hierophant.
