Old School here with the official entries for our Banner Contest! Lots of great stuff here from some very talented people, but enough of me, let's take a look at the seven entries we recieved ...
Our first Entry is from Muffin at http://muffinshappycorner.blogspot.com/ This is an awesome, Final Fantasy style banner - that's the style I associate with it anyway, being one of my favorite video games.
Next is an entry from Fartbrush, a follower. No blog, but very nice entry. This really incorperates the rivalry of Chaos and Imperial Marines.
A classic banner from D6 at d6gaming.tumblr.com using one of my personal favorite peices of 40k art.
and here is a great entry from Daniel at http://www.coloursandeagles.blogspot.com/ using an Angroth model that CVinton painted up a while ago
Here is a slick banner from Fester of http://fester40k.blogspot.com/ and 3++ fame. A strong entry!
A very Dark Inquisitor from Nesbet at http://nesbetminiatures.blogspot.com/ Nesbet also made some very professional looking favcons and wrote a better description than the one we currently run.
Last, but certainly not least is this bling banner from Chaplain Aerion at Team Snake Eyes, a blog we at DFG are very friendly with!
There we have it. I cannot express how overwhelmed I am that so many people took the time and effort to make a banner entry for our blog and the level of quality that went into each entry. Thank you all! The DFG team will now take recess to discuss these entries between ourselves and our local 1%'ers to see what everyone agrees on. There is sure to be sweating, witty banter, passive agressive argueing and hopefully, an agreement ... until then, enjoy these great banners, check out their blogs and feel free to lend us your own opinions!
They all look great, but I was drawn most to the Inquisitor one.
ReplyDelete2nd from the top/fester's one
ReplyDeleteI like Fartbrush's banner.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support Sonsoftaurus!! =3
ReplyDeleteAll the entries look really cool, I'm sure it will be tough to choose the winner. My favorite banner, though, is the Dark Inquisitor one by Nesbet.
ReplyDeleteWow, once again some great work from people!
ReplyDeleteA few things:
1. I didn't win the Gentleman's One's comp', but got an honorable mention :)
2. I see that I have no chance of winning based on at least one or two of those entries, but I reckon mine is the best if you wan to stay away from GW copyright art (modest, no?). Saying that, if some of these aren't GW art but look like it, I will be SO jealous :)
3. Thanks for liking my image enough to put it up on the blog!
Sorry Fester, thought you were the winner over at AGOs, I'll edit that. Yours is a great entry and the GW IP thing is a consideration, though the current image is cropped straight from RT.
ReplyDeleteI won't say what I think is my favorite yet as I have yet to decide (thats right... I am still open to bribes... ahem...)
ReplyDeleteI do however look forward to talking with the rest of the DFG crew about it.
Also look out for a new post by me later this week.
I like the 7th, my me is cado and from chile i am member for a fourm, in this forum posted the chalenge because that post my opinion
ReplyDeleteBYE
OST: No worries, just making sure things are correct and that the real winner doesn't feel left out.
ReplyDeleteLord Solar Steve: Here's your bribe: you can use my banner on the site if I win. Done.
Also, even if I don't win I will make sure I send through the PSD and original images in case you want to use it all later for something else (you never know when something comes in handy).
I personally like festers. OST is such a chaos whore and it fits pretty well. Yayayayeah.
ReplyDeleteAwesome work Muffin. Beautiful color effects. Keep up the good work mate.
ReplyDeleteby far, I vote for Muffins'!
ReplyDeleteThe first one, definitly. Muffin should win. Awsome colors.
ReplyDeleteMuffin all the way!
ReplyDeleteAwesome work man!
Vote for no 1: muffin. Really cool colors and you can really see that he's been working a lot with it. I like.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteNegative comments are not at all what we here at DFG are about. Every entry we recieved is amazing because 1. It represents someones time 2. It's someones personality expressed through their art 3. They are dfg fans and want to be apart of a positive community.
ReplyDeleteConstructive critism is perfectly fine but posting just negative comments is pathetic.
I vote for the dark inquisitor banner. The blog description is WAY MUCH COOLER!
ReplyDeleteThe first and fartbrush's entries are nice, but their fonts didn't make it, to catch the 40K flavour, IMHO. Anyways, fartbrush's banner is a nice one, at least the concept it's cool.
ReplyDeleteBut, I have to admit that the font type from the 6tf entry is awesome. It says WH40K with every single character! And the favicons seen in the blog from Nesbet, match perfectly with it's banner.
Gotta be Fartbrush or Muffin's banner.
ReplyDeleteHave to say that Nesbet's dark inquisitor is my favorite - and not just as an inquisition player. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're going to stick with the hard to read reverse white on black text, I'd suggest Fester's banner. It looks great and matches the site.
ReplyDeleteTo let you in on how everyone is doing, there has been much talk so far amoung the writers here and our local friends. The web seems to be pretty split in all directions with a heavy preference to Muffin or Fartbrush and a healthy dose of Nesbet and Fester.
ReplyDeleteLocally, the big line seems to be between Nesbet and Fartbrush and we are still hashing it out, though we haven't heard from a couple of the authors on the issue. We will keep you posted and since tomorrow is game night, we will have a good chance of a decision soon! Thanks again folks!
thx for the heads up old school and id like to apologys for rubens comment. hope that will not effect my result.
ReplyDeletebut to DFG and the ppl here sorry for that.
best regardes muffin ^^
Thank you OST, I'm really glad to read about being one of the favourites.
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting for your thoughts, tomorrow. =3
Ah! And THANKS to PapaJJ, Sonsoftaurus, fester, karin, Jaime and Vogrin for chosing my banner! =D
ReplyDeleteThe dark inquisitor banner is really cool. My vote is for Nesbet.
ReplyDeleteNesbet´s Dark Inquisitor got the attitud. Definitly my choice.
ReplyDeleteThumbs up for Dark Inquisitor and.... Nesbet la maska!
ReplyDeleteI choose muffin!
ReplyDeletethx for all the votes ppl, happy to se that some ppl like the stuff I do.
ReplyDeleteand if I may, I'd like to give a motivation to why I did as I did.
I began whit a chaos team and then after a while i began to think why make it so dark and heavy? I fliped it the other way around and made it in happy colors. why you ask? well this is how I'm thinking: DFG is a blog that give us awsome news on what's going on in the 40K world and other good stuff. It's a happy blog. and also when I come home from school and see my tyranids/eldars I get happy cuz I get to paint, and I feel a joy in my body when a model is done.
Therefore I did my banner in the colors of the rainbow because DFG is a happy place where you get to see other ppls work and what is going on in the hobby.
well that is a bit of my mind and why I did like I did.
may the best banner win.
best regards muffin ^^
The one with the inquisitor on it, that is made by Nesbet, has the best "attitude" of all.
ReplyDeleteNesbet! you blow mine out of the water! amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much RoloRamone (Ay Caramba!), Honu (Anakha?), and my maskon friend from Chile's capital xD (Abhorash).
ReplyDeleteSpecial thanks for you too D6. I share OST's opinion about the excellent piece of artwork you choosed for your banner. Thank you!!
Great stuff guys!
