Step Up Your Conversions and Modelling: The Green Stuff Industries Tentacle Maker!

TJ here to talk to you about a tool that has stepped my game up considerably as a converter and modeller and has become a part of my model-building musts, alongside my hobby knife, clippers and glue. I am talking about the Tentacle Maker from Green Stuff Industries. I have talked about it quite a bit on the blog and only because I have had such great success with it. I don't advertise products for money on this blog, I advertise based on their merit or potential. I have used the tentacle maker for 2+ years now and I use it all the time. If you haven't picked one up yet, I would like to show you a selection of models (not just mine, but from around the internet) that give you an idea of what you can do with this tool (really these, as there are several of them):

My own Heldrake conversion is above and pretty much the whole underside of the model is filled in with the cables from a Tentacle Maker 050. Without the cables, it would have never looked complete. I owe this conversion (one of our most viewed posts and a model I have seen immitated since) to the Tentacle Maker.

I hope Goatboy doesn't mind me using his photos, but I want to show you some of the best example available, so here is an incredible Nurgle Chaos Lord on Palanquin that looks amazing and is brought to its full potential via the use of the Tentacle Maker.

Here is another shot of a Goatboy model. This time, another Heldrake conversion, this one also using cables from the Tentacle Maker! BTW, in case you don't already know (or live under a rock) Goatboy runs a commission painting service called Full of Monkey. Check it out here.

This absolutely sick Doom of Malan'Tai conversion is enhanced by the Tentacle Maker 040.

Here, legendary modeller and blogger, Ron of From the Warp, used it to create a servitor/ Magos! Again, impossible without the TM.

A Word Bearer Dreadnought Conversion by Augustus b'Raass, enhanced by the TM.

The best tool for converting Space Marine Librarians and actually giving them the signature cables seen in the official models.

A way to spruce up terrain and wreck markers.

A killer tool for creating possessed vehicles!

Some people are just born to sculpt and even those people use the Tentacle Maker (I feel like Billy Maze here, but it is true).

Even in conversions where I don't lean fully into using the Tentacle Maker for all my cables, I still find it useful in some spots (like on the cables behind my minotaur's neck).

Chris Vinton also made great use of the Tentacle Maker 020 to just enhance his Forge World Decimator with an extra touch.

Tyler over at Aliens, Trees and Skulls used it to make this Obliterators of Khorne squad possible.

The bottom line is that I have nothing to gain from you going out and getting a Tentacle Maker other than the fact that you will make cooler looking models with it, which will then add to the great eye candy out there like the models above.

If you want to see more stunning examples from myself, Goatboy and dozens of other artists, check out the GSI gallery on FB and if you want to know more about the Tentacle Maker or how to purchase one, visit GSI here.
