Putting it Together; Gaming room

Following suit of making this a more personal blog but without going into too much detail, my wife and I moved back in together. Beyond salvaging a previously crumbling marriage this has given me two things (one of which is the title); energy to once again work on 40k, which is why I've been mostly absent for nearly all of 2012 and new gaming space!

When we separated I lived in the house and she moved to an apartment townhouse. Now that we've mended fences I've moved into the townhouse and were selling the house. With that cones a pretty ballin' space in the basement for 40k (part of the work-it-out contract we have).

So far this space isn't much and I really wanted to hold out until it was finished or at least more finished but I'm just too excited in general to hold it under my hat.

The plan is a table or two at least, massive shelf storage for terrain and such, putting the 42" flat screen down in the corner and my half fridge for beer. Now I'll admit its no smoking room dream like I have and one day will realize, but its a huge upgrade from the cramped oil stained garage.

Right now I have one table I finished with full city terrain, my fridge, paint desk and two display cases. All the boxes are full of 40k hobby stuff (yes, I have that much plus more hobby materials). Those will find homes on shelves eventually. The shelf above my desk has a custom made paint rack I did for the 2oz dropper bottles I transfer and modify my GW paint into. That shelf also has an under mounted LED lamp which along with my desk and floor ott lites light up my paint area.

The ceiling lights are more than ample for lighting for gaming and the walls are just waiting for my slew of GW posters to be hung on them. Overall I'm pretty stocked about this space and now that I've satisfied spilling my guts like a school girl with a secret I think I can hold out until its finished to give the final virtual tour.

Thanks for reading and since its still under construction is love to hear ideas on what I should consider and what you've done with your gaming rooms!

  7. Congratulations on managing to find a solution, it can be extremely difficult at times and I speak from experience. Dare I say it, bit seems to have been a boon for your hobby though, that is a room I lust over even now, cannot wait to see how it completes.
