Week 5 of painting challenge: A little guard, a lot of dark eldar

Hello everyone, its me L.S.S., taking over for Sammy while he is out on the road for his business. This week we have two more entries from our faithful followers... well one entry and a bunch from a second guy. My own kill point for this week is delayed for now, but should be up by Friday.

First we have Brian with more of his wonderful guard, he called them "Another speed-paint job: A Platoon Command Squad." though they look pretty darn good for a speed-job.

Next we have a HUGE amount of pictures from Ed, I will let him speak for himself about this:

"First up is my Archon, Lord Zuol, armed with a blaster and agoniser. i used the double ended one from the scourges box as I didn't want it to look the same as the other agonisers in my army.
I mostly painted him the same way as my other Dark Eldar, but the cloak needed more attention than the rest of the army's small amounts of purple. After basecoating liche purple and washing it black as described in the video, I layered it back up with liche purple, before mixing in some bleached bone and highlighting it again.

Urien Rakarth was actually painted last year for my old orange dark eldar, so all I needed to do was repaint his armour (which there isn't much of) and his base to match my new army. I like the way it actually looks like his black cloak is all greasy and horrible, as I washed it with devlan mud.

Kabalite warriors form the mainstay of my army, so I have tried to paint them quickly so I can get lots of them done. I found the power sword effect for the sybarite on a how to paint imperial fists guide on all things 40k. It didn't turn out so well this first time, but it worked a lot better on my Solorite for the scourges I am working on for next time.

The Razorwing was good fun to build and paint, and I make good use of the transfer sheet, plastering it in them! I hope you like my models, I will send you more soon!"

Well that is all for this week, however keep sending in your pictures and we will keep putting them up!

Until next time, burn some heretics, kill some mutants, and do it always....

  1. All the models look fantastic and I especially like the vibrant colors of the I.G unit.. but there has GOT to be SOMETHING wrong with the model on the right... It's just.. unnatural.
Must be genhanced with giraffe genes! Haha.

  3. Hi guys, I'm a big fan of your blog. Lots of great stuff here. I've added DFG to the blogroll on my site and I was wondering if you would be kind enough to do the same for me (http://rustandthecity.blogspot.ca/)? Thanks,
    Cameron

  4. I really like the blue shin and hair on the dark eldar. It just seems the right tone for dark elves, fantasy or 40k versions, glad you see someone doing it right!

  5. Love the Kabbalites. Very nice. And thanks for the kind words about my guard. I'd never noticed it before, but that head is massive. Ah well, their traitors. I'll just pretend it was an intenional mutation or something.

  6. With life eating up my hobby time I'm afraid I've had to bow out - at the moment I can't keep up with the weekly pace. Nevertheless, I'm loving this week's entries! Great work, folks!

    1. I know what that is like. It seems RL is kicking most of our team's butts too, there are just enough of it to keep the hampster wheel turning. Turn in stuff whenever you can, man, we appreciate any entry. Believe me, before this is over, every one of us will miss multiple weeks.
