It Came From the Forums: Pink Tyrands! Nard's Nids Gone Wild!

Old School here with another edition of It Came from the Forums and this time, we are looking at some bold, pink and at times tentacally (not a real word) Tyranids! I love the bold colors and sharp lines in this army and really appreciate the fact that the same amount of layering, shading and highlighting went into every model from the biggest bug, like the one above, to the tiny termagants as well. Let's take a look at Nard's Nids!

Aside from having a very bold choice in color styles, Nard also like tentacles and nowhere is it expressed more than in this converted Trygon, which reminds me of the creatures from Tremors. If you aren't sure about that, follow the link to his gallery on Dakka at the end of this article. There you will see that there are tons of small tentacles that end in old school rippers. It is really creepy.

Maybe not as creepy as this cluster of Cthulu freaks though!

This prime is another example of Nard's bad-assery at work. He is big, brutal and armed with some nicely converted weapons!

Now THIS is a Doom of Malan'Tai!

The fanned out stacks, the energy boils and crackling lightning are all really great touches and make this model a centerpiece among an army of centerpiece models!

Even his rippers are smartly painted! He also has sky slashers, so follow the link at the end of the article for all the bugs I don't cover here.

There is something unsettling about seeing these guys in pink ... in any case, I think it may be time I bought some, since they are one of the few things in the range I don't own!

Oh my god, the carapace and the talons on this thing are amazing!

I really love the way the hard purple lines look and how the layering on the shell creates such a smooth, egg shell like effect. I found an article on how he paints his nids HERE and you should check it out, there is a lot of stuff to learn from an artist like this. Also, you will be blown away by the amount of layers that go into this look!

The T-Fex, nuff said ...

One of the nice touches that you will see around this army is the freakish things you will find coming out of the pink slime and ooze. It looks like there might me a creeper style tentacle-fex trying to say hello to Ol One Eye here ...

The Malanthrope is almost cool enough to get me into IA. I may have to buy one and see what it looks like in Behemoth colors.

Shrikes are sick and soon, I plan to bring them to the table to show you why. Sixth Ed, here we come.

One of the great things about It Came from the Forums from my end is the massive amount of stuff I purposely expose myself to just to find what becomes a post. There is a wealth of great stuff on the forums that for some reason doesn't populate Google search results very well, while the blogs do. It is certainly something to think about for those of you with your best stuff locked up in the forums. Share it on the blogs and let everyone take a look!

I am glad to find that I am not the only person who likes to paint the hell out of their gaunts. The feathering on the carapaces looks amazing.
