End of Days
This years end of days has a few changes from last year. Last year went so well and we got so much positive feedback that were really happy to have it come around for a second year. We fully plan to continue and are very open to feedback, so before we go over the changes take a mental note to give us any feedback after the tournament as to what your liked and what you disliked.
The intention of this tournament is to have fun. This is an annual tournament that we hope to continue for the years ahead. This tournament is not the place for the petty arguments and obnoxious players. We know it’s impossible to root them out but were doing what we can to keep this a fun event with competition in the background and instead a fantastic, laugh filled day of Warhammer in the foreground. The intention of this tournament is not to break the game with a crazy combo but instead to reflect the final days of the imperium when loyalties are cast aside (or held firm) and dark pacts are sworn in the hope to survive the downfall of the imperium or the rise of your xenos empire.
Here is the outline of what’s happening this year:
• This year’s points total will be 2500 per side, 1250 per player.
• Each player is required to draw their main force from separate codices
• Each player is allowed one extra unit taken from any other codex not already comprising the main forces. The extra units must also be from separate codices. Therefore if both players draw an extra unit their forces will be comprised of four different codices.
• Players will share a single force org with the addition of one slot per selection. Therefor the force org is 3 HQ, 4 elite, 7 troop, 4 fast attack, 4 heavy support.
• Each player is required to take only 1 HQ and 1 Troop from their main force. From then, the remainder of your chart is filled with extra units and units from your main forces.
• See the FAQ for specific questions related to interactions between units/codices.
The tournament will be held November 5th at Evolution games in Lansing MI. Evolution is located near the corner of Saginaw and Crytes road north of I96. Doors open at 9:30 in the morning, dice roll at 11 sharp. There should be adequate for more teams than were likely to get, but just in case be sure to preregister by emailing us. Cost is 6$ a team.
For prize support there are some changes. Last year we had a boat load of prizes. We feel like after the tournaments over the summer there has been enough free stuff given out. End of Days is a tournament beyond the random 1850-tournaments so we want the prize support to stand out. For this we will still be giving minor prizes (everyone loves swag) but the main reward for being the strongest general at the time of broken oaths and heretical alliances needs to be memorable. For this tournament trophies will be the prize of the day. Door charge will cover the costs of these and the smaller prize support. The trophies are going to be better than your 6th grade baseball trophy so expect some cool trophies tailored to the End of Days.
The small prizes will be distributed not according to W/L records, but instead on individual performance. Prize categories are overall army appearance, Spirit of End of Days, Cutthroat and of course Castellan Solcum will have to defend his Castellan of the End title.
Army appearance will be based on whatever you can bring. If you have a display board; bring it. If you have a fully painted army; fantastic. If it’s not fully painted but what is painted looks great; it counts. Its hard to place individual models against whole armies but we'll work it out.
Spirit of End of Days will be a player vote and based on whose army list (single player) most embodies End of Days. People that wish to enter this will have an opportunity to write a few sentences of why, leave it and their army list by their army and at the break we’ll collect votes and tally them up. There really isn’t going to be a guideline for what the spirit is, it’s going to be up to the players as to what embodies the spirit.
The cutthroat award is here to remind the teams that they’re together because of survival. You’re not friends; you’re just people with a common goal of living to tomorrow. If that means you abandon your partners unit to die to the demons that just showed up for your own survival or gain, you’re ok with that. This prize is based on the player with the most individual battle points.
The Castellan prize is back from last year. This prize is based on objective grab. Castellan Solcum is the current Castellan of End of Days so he’ll be fiercely defending his title this year. This prize is based on the number of Objectives claimed. He who claims the most territory is the Castellan of the End, rooting his governorship in the ashes of the imperium!
Remember Remember the 5th of November, Vogrin and SeerK won end of days with much splender.
ReplyDeleteI like the changes guys I will repost and pimp it tonight.
so i have a few questions.
ReplyDelete1. for the extra unit how do we treat units that don't occupy a force org slot(ex. IG priest)
2. also for the extra slot if you can't take a unit and it's transport can you take the transport and not the unit?
3. for the extra unit do we have to follow limitations... like death company dreadnought says i must have 5 DC first, can i assume that the force i got it from had 5 DC and they died? it would follow the theme of the tournament, also curios on blood angels honor guard, can they be included as i can't buy the guy they would retinue to...
4. if i can't buy a transport, which is a listed upgrade to the unit that happens to be a vehicle. Can i buy additional members to a squadron as they would also be an upgrade that happens to be a vehicle?

ReplyDeleteYou treat them like they don't occupy a force org slot. I'm not really sure what you're asking here.
2. also for the extra slot if you can't take a unit and it's transport can you take the transport and not the unit?
No. Can you ever just take a rhino or razorback or Blood Angels Land Raider?
3. for the extra unit do we have to follow limitations... like death company dreadnought says i must have 5 DC first, can i assume that the force i got it from had 5 DC and they died? it would follow the theme of the tournament, also curios on blood angels honor guard, can they be included as i can't buy the guy they would retinue to...
All normal rules apply. For the Deathcompany Dreadnought, you would have to have 5 Deathcompany.
As for honorguard or similar units you really need to look at your codex and use common sense (if you don't have any, ask a friend or parent). Blood Angels honor guard says "You can take one unit of Honour Guard for every HQ unit in your army." So, as long as your have an HQ you could take honor guard. However, as it is in the space marine codex, "you may include one honour guard squad for every CHAPTER MASTER in your army." Therefor you would need to satisfy that.
The retinue rule was carried over from when a current codex had a retinue. Currently, I can't think of anything that is actually a retinue and follows the retinue (I'm sure someone will find one) so with thinks like retinues but not actual retinues by the rules you just need to satisfy the restriction. Like the two above mentioned. Another example is the court of the Archon. "You may include one Court of the Archon for every Archon in your amry." this would make it impossible to take as a bonus unit.
4. if i can't buy a transport, which is a listed upgrade to the unit that happens to be a vehicle. Can i buy additional members to a squadron as they would also be an upgrade that happens to be a vehicle?
Yes. Two things; one, its not an upgrade, its a squad member. You can take any size squad allowable. Second, Drawing the conclusion that you can't buy the transport because its a vehicle is pretty weird. You can't buy the transport because you would get two independent bonus units out of the extra codex instead of one.
With the new necron codex dropping the day of the end of days tournament are you going to be observing the old codex or the new one?
ReplyDeleteanonymeowmous, you should check the FAQ update about priests. It might apply to you.
ReplyDeleteDo the choices from outside your codexes apply to the unified force org chart?
ReplyDelete"• Each player is required to take only 1 HQ and 1 Troop from their main force. From then, the remainder of your chart is filled with extra units and units from your main forces."
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of weirdly worded now that I reread it, but yes they do. Check out the FAQ too, if you haven't already. :) There are a lot of questions addressed there.
