Grey Knights Dreadknight Alternative Model Possibilities from Hi Tech Miniatures!

Old School here really quick to offer up a possible Grey Knight Dreadknight alternative in the form of the Demon Slayers Hell Cruiser from Hi Tech Miniatures, pictured above in paint and pelow in bare resin.

The model of course is not intended as a stand in, but has enough of the look to pull it off if need be. I personally think it looks a little too Warjackey for me - almost like a Menoth model, but it could fit the bill for those ambitious folks who are building a Custodes themed Grey Knight force. Here is what Hi Tech had to say about the mini:

40.00 Euros. Multipart resin miniature . Require assembling. Simply , flat, oval base include but we recomend purchase of a dedicated base You can find here: OVAL BASE - sample picture You can see HERE
Figure consist of 16 elements which allow to glue it in different positions. Content:                               1) Head 2) Torso 3) Aureole 4) Legs 5) Left armlet 6) Left elbow 7) Left Fist 8) Miasm Gun 9) Right armlet 10) Right elbow 11) Right fist 12) Gutling Gun 13) Ammo cartridge 14) Left torch 15) Right torch 16 ) Flat, oval base 100mm x 120mm
The model may also be right for those folks looking for an alternative to the Dreadknight as the initial reviews of the GW model are a little mixed. My own personal opinion is that the Dreadknight is fine and with a little conversion, it could be just right, however, I enjoy throwing out these kind of alternatives as I think somebody out there might be looking for them. Here is a link to Hi-Tech miniatures page for the model. Let's hear your thoughts on the design.

  1. Meh, I prefer the Dreadknight for less $$$.

  2. Hmmm... I admit, I'd rather have the original as well. Then again, whoever has designed the Dreadknight had at least watched "Appleseed", and I am quite partial to Masamune Shirow's Landmates the Grey Knight mecha resembles, at least a bit.

  3. I think you've hit the nail on the head - this would suit a Custodes army very well. Regardless of whether I like them or not, I do always enjoy your alternate mini posts.

  4. I have bought two of these. It does go well with my "Art Scale" Custodes army. The price was not much higher than the Dreadknight. Its slightly bigger than the 'knight, but since I am running an upscaled version I am happy. The casts are nice, better than Forgeworld. I just need to hunt down the sword from a 'knight to give it to them. BTW the shields that they sell are great.
