DFG Painting Challenge: Salamander Scouts

Here's entry #2 from me. My scouts of terror! I put the skull face on one of them and then sent a pic to OST and he was like "Dude, you have to do that to all of them!" I'm pretty happy he told me that.
The sergeant is a picture of my melta conversion in action. A few months back I put a rather dare-devil method for making combi meltas. In my list this squad is my forward melta tank busting squad. Their storm has multi-melta, the sergeant has the combi melta and melta bombs.

Other than that I used a method by misterjustin to weather the decals and it turned out pretty awesome. I didn't get very good shots of it but you'll see it more in the future.

Alright, I'll shut up now. Enjoy the pics!

  1. Very striking. My only suggestion would be to go with a color other than black for their hair. A reddish-brown would bring out the red of their eyes and make the faces "pop" more.

Also, I would drill holes in the side of the melta barrel to make it match more closely the meltas in the rest of the army. Otherwise I really like that conversion. Is that a Knex piece?

  4. No contest, just a friendly challenge to keep OST and I on task to get our armies finished. We've invited the community to join in. So far we've received one submission but everyone is welcome to submit things to us and we'll post them up!

  8. Thanks! Its a careful balancing act between terrifying semi-super humans and French mimes.
