  1. Good luck with the tournament. I expect you'll give us a full report? I'd love to see a breakdown of the armies entered in terms of codex.

  3. Dang it, I already committed to a tournament in GR that day.. There should be a forum for TO's in MI area to coordinate so we don't end up with multiple tournaments on the same day.. :(

    1. Many have tried to coordinate the groups in the area and it has not gone well.

  4. I'll put it on my calendar. No IA makes me in disappointment city. Perhaps you could take a look at the rules we'll be using for Foodhammer. Basically IA units are 0-1 so you an only take one of them.

I'll see if a couple other FC40kers wanna go too!

    1. The reasons I don't like including IA is because one; more people get grumbly about IA being allowed than do about IA not being allowed. Second, a lot of people don't have access (even in this day and age of piracy) to the IA books. Lastly, its like another whole set of codexes for me as a TO to read and know inside and out just in case someone shows up with some obscure things out of IA3 (not to mention I'd have to know if it was reprinted in IA11 and more than likely nerfed).

However, I like the way they're doing IA books now with the WH40k stamp and the Apoc stamp, and I'm positive that moving forward I will integrate that into what I'm comfortable with running as a TO. I picked up apoc second ed (Impulse buy at Pandemonium) and the 40k marked items are pretty fair and balanced for 40k. I think Matt Ward puts more broken shit in his codexes than I found in that book.

As a side note, if I were codex marines, I'd take three double assault cannon contemptor dreads. st 6 ap 4 heavy 6 (x2)rending possible BS 5 possible AA mount dakka dreads? Yes please. AV 13 with a 5+ invul? you know it.

    2. Those contemptors are like 200 points, lol. Plus if you make them 0-1 like Adepticon it is fine.

All you have to do is require anyone who wants to use them to have a copy of the book on hand. TO rules are final.

And yeah, there are more broken unit entries in the GK book alone than there are in the whole of IA books.

I feel like we're in a new age of gaming. Dudes who grumble about IA being overpowered are being left in the dust of angry gaming. Leave 'em there.

  5. There is a michigan wargamer facebook group to announce tournies and such. The 40K fight club is a local group. they run tournaments independent of Dark Future Games and Craftworld Lansing.

I think the no IA will be pretty standard in tournaments to come. They are not standard codex units and really only fill the gap that the old codexes have in regards to the new rules.

    1. It won't be standard at GS for sure. We as tourney organizers want people to have fun and use what they'd like. They add a lot to any codex, not just old ones. Not sure where that idea comes from.

40k Fight Club is not just local - it has chapters in Detroit, Flint, the west side, the north, California, etc etc. Tourneys are announced for the whole state there. I urge you to check it out.
