Gerantius, rules and thoughts on the new Imperial Knight

TJ here to talk about Gerantius, the forgotten knight which is a WD exclusive. He is a character from the knights book that now has rules of hisnown and they are pretty awesome:

So he has a standard Knight Paladin statline with an addition +1 to his Bs and Ws. He can also run and shoot and rerolls 1s on stomp attacks.

Additionally, he gets a 3++ from his shield and It Will Not Die, makingn him 500 points of incredible.

He cnat take warlord traits and cant roll on the knights table, but who cares? He shores up some of the weaknesses that knights have, which in my opinion is close combat becuase they can regularly die to necron lords, daemon princes and wraithknights. He is now the defense measure against those threats and also provides a very mobile offensive unit against other armies.

I also think from a hobby standpoint, he gives us chaos fans a chance to make crazy conversions, like a nurgle themed, unkillable knight or good rules for a Lord of Skulls/ Knight kitbash (dont mind if I do).

Those are just my opinions though. Any princeps out there want to add theirs? What do you think of Gerantius and his rules?

  1. I don't think, the Daemon Princes are problem to Walkers with the new Smite...

    1. Belakor is still pretty brutal, and Iron Arm princes, but of course you have to roll it, so you're less likely to get the black mace prince hitting your knight with 5+ smash attacks, not to mention to changes to assault from flight. I'm still trying to figure out how to handle knights with my CSM/Daemons, without belakor its a crap shoot.

    3. Belakor is priceless against knights. Managed to take out 3, with invisible hammerhand spawn and lord, invisible maulerfiend and straight up belakor. Even managed to hallucinate one by a fluke..

Maulerfiends without invisible won't work.. as the knights are ws4 I 4, so they'd swing first and kill. Even with invisible its.. not good odds.

  2. As a matter of fact, I am converting a Chaos Knigth right now, so the dataslate for Gerantius might be a good way to obtain some flavourful rules for that model! Using a Knight in a CSM army will require my opponent's permission anyway, so while I'm at it, I might as well ask for permission to use "Gerry's" rules ;)

    1. You don't need permission anymore, you can take come the apocalypse units as allies in 7th

    2. ...and keep my enormous Knight Titan 12' inches away from the rest of my army? Yeah, that'll work ;)

Seriously, though: While you are of course correct, I'd rather get my opponent's permission to field the model as if it were an actual part of my army, same as with my Traitor Guard. I only ever play friendly games, however, so neither should be a big problem.

    3. Haha, only at setup!

I played an opponent with 2 chaos knights in 6th and it never felt broken, I don't know why they weren't AoC with chaos honestly.
