Building a Better Plague Marine Product Review: Kromlech's Morbid Legionaries Shoulder Pads!

TJ here with a review of Kromlech's Morbid Legionaries shoulder pads. I am sorry but for some reason Blogger won't let me rotate the photos, but in any case, I want to take a good look at these things with you before I add them to my next conversions.

First off, I want to say that the impression I got from the pics below drew me in :

and while Green isn't really my thing I saw some potential in these. Enough to feature them in a previous article about building a better Plague Marine, so finally, I caved and ordered them.

I have handled bits from a number of different companies in the 3rd Market bits business and have cast my own bits as well and I am always skeptical of bad resin or sloppy details in 3rd party stuff. Kromlech has a great reputation, so I figured I would not have any problems. What I did not expect was just how crisp and detailed the bits were! These really are very nice and very balanced in terms of detail.

What I mean when I say that, is that fleshy parts are fleshy looking and have a softer texture while harder parts are very crisp. The bits don't have a press molded feel the way some bits do. These are perfect.

The resin itself is very nice. It is firm and crisp without being brittle or soft. I would compare it to Forge World Resin in that regard.

What I really like about the Morbid Legionaire shoulder pads from Kromlech is that they all have different details. One is all stitched up and oozy, another is scaled with worms coming out of it, two have a fly icon, which actually will go very well for what I have in mind for my next batch of Plague Marines and another pad has the chimney style stacks of Typhus and almost looks like a heart. It is all very beautiful in a very disgusting way.

With all that said, I just wanted to share how excited I was about these bits and the potential they have for helping me build a better Plague Marine ... or even some other hideous entries in my Chaos army or even the End of Days army. We will see. Here is a close shot from Kromlech to show you the details without turning your computer sideways:

... and below is another look compared to a Chaos Marine shoulder pad for scale.

With all that said, if these bits interest you, take a look at these and other parts at Kromlech.eu and explore the store. There are plenty of other bits out there that could be added into many armies from 40k to fantasy. After handling these bits, I already am looking at making another order after adding these (and a few other parts I will review later) into my next project. Until then, please let me know what you think of these bits and if you have experience with Kromlech parts, please tell us about your experience. It may influence somebody's next army!
