CVinton's Craftworld open at Ucon report

CVinton reporting back from UCon.  I have to say first of all, thank you so much to seerk for putting on the event.  For the first craftworld open, it was well done.  I applaud the effort to put together an event that does not have a store front behind it directly.  Several local stores reached out to support the event, Pandemonium in Detroit, Game Links in Fowlerville, and Evolution in Lansing.

First off, I want to mention something someone pointed out to me.  There weren't any douche bags.  Looking around the game field there a good amount of the top table people from different locations come out for this, but none of them are people I would consider the typical WAAC tournament player.  In a sea of babbling retards known as the internet I want to be a voice that says "Hey, I went to a small con tournament and it was just a bunch of asshat, WAAC players..."

Now, for the small pic dump of armies.

British John and his famous kroot counts as.  This weekend he rolled DE.  Super awesome army and a fine example of why you should allow counts as, when its done right.

Mike O from fresh coast 40k.  Very nice salamanders army complete with forgeworld terminators!

Eric G's grey knights.  I really was happy to see a not silver GK army.  Super deadly build with over 10 psycannons and at least 60 power armor boots on the ground.

Bill Kim's demon army. It was a really unfourtunate event that took Bill off the top table and the only smudge on the 'non-douche bag' record for this tournmanet.  I still need to play this list because....god damned.....3 flyers including fateweaver and blood thirster and 4 chariots. Gross.

Adam K's second place blood tau. Very cool army, very well painted.  Hopefully I can get some of this at food hammer.

Heres a quick wrap up of how my dumb 1850 crons list is going.
Round one- orks
Round two- GK
Round three- Necrons

At the end of the day my total record for this list is 22-1.  That is over the span of 3 tournaments and a lot of casual play.  This list is damned retarded and completely unexpected when you look at it on paper.  There is no heart to cut out, and no target I can't just weight of fire down. I really don't understand why the internet has picked up on this, but maybe it will one day.

Here is the list

Until then, pic dump time!

This is one of my favorite pics.  Coteaz on a hill with the objective vs a horde of zombie robots.  Sadly the lord jumped up there with the barge and anticlimactically chopped his head off with a single warscythe sweep.  Pretty funny to picture in your head.

This was a four game turn slap fight between a cyrptek and the last member of the strike squad.  Awesome!

And the final table and by far the lists hardest fight.  Barely squeaked this out by basically making a moral check.  sad that sometimes the game comes down to that, but it is what it is.

    1. I saw that and almost edited it, but then kind of chuckled to see how long it would take you to notice, mike. I'll change it now though.

  7. Thanks Vinton for getting pics up. My phone camera was not to great and I was to busy running the show to get a ton of pictures. I might have to tap the blogs Remembrancer next year to capture the convention.

I had a blast running it and I am glad the player had a good time. Next year promises to be bigger and better.

  8. Was going to post that the army is Mantis Warriors and not Salamanders.

I've gotten to play this list twice now and I'll just say that this is the type of list that should win tournaments. It is good, powerful, balanced, not spammy, not over the top in any single aspect of the game and doesn't play itself. It doesn't abuse loopholes so it can adapt nicely to game situations. It also shows what clubbing baby seals repeatedly can do for you win/loss record (just kidding).

I'm also willing to bet that Chris has an advantage over most opponents because he has played with a single list for 25+ games now. He knows his army and what it can/can't do. You don't get this playing a list a half dozen times.

    1. Thanks steinerp. I love playing agianst you because your eldar are the trickiest army I get to practice against. Nicely done with the W/L record jab. I deserve it. :)

I feel exactly how you do about this list, its the most balanced list I've every played with. No heart to the list makes it hard to kill in a single blow. Its the death by a thousand cuts mentality which is hard to deal with.
