Roll out the red carpet for my first Night Lords model. I built it last night and finished painting it this morning. The scheme is pretty cool and I love airbrushing blues. I took inspiration for the character from the book, so read about him on the lexicon or wiki and see where the inspiration is on the model.

Night Lords Defiler WIP
After scraping the rhino (for the most part) I picked up this defiler at bitz trading. The traditional defiler design is by far the worst vehicle model in GW, but with some conversions can be salvaged. Here is my salvaging of the model.

More 6th Edition Rumors; HUGE POST!
Old School here with an epically long post covering even more 6th edition rumors. This post is long and I haven't even gotten to dig deep enough to give my own thoughts, but I am putting these out for discussion. There are a lot of things in there that sound like Fantasy or 2nd Ed (for those of you who played it or have read the rules). I will offer my thoughts via comments later. Have fun chewing on these rumors folks and let us know what your thoughts and speculations are (an by the way, we know they are rumors, so comments about how they are just rumors are kind of silly). Enjoy:

Another Loyal Son Falls to Chaos!

I am about to totally bust CVinton out of the chaos closet while he sleeps. Oh, it makes me happy to see a former Salamander and Ultramarines player (who also owns a guard collection equal to the dollar value of the Nation's deficit.), fall to the dark gods ... And the best part is that it is CVinton and he does things in style. Just look at this WIP photo of a Night Lords rhino! He is going to flip when he sees this, but I don't care, I get off on the fall of loyalists and this is the best yet! Let this traitor know what you think of his "secret project"!

Commission Completion; Chaos and Grey Knights...sort of...
I know I'm way way way behind on the painting challenge so I decided I needed to get out the commissions I have so I can work on my own stuff and get back on track. In my sleep less evenings I've been working on guardsmen after guardsmen after guardsmen to get my IG army finally finished. Expect a flood of grey and black camouflage in the future (and part 2 of that weathering video with the Leman Russ in it. I know, I'm a lazy bastard!). For now enjoy a chaos lord with human flesh cloak and a super old school Armorcast Grey Knights Shadow Sword...I'm willing to bet its the only one ever...
Prepping for a Warhammer Fastasy Tournament
Rhellion here with some more Fantasy chat. Blood in the Sun is less than a month away, and I am busy preparing for my first GT of the Summer. BITS will have 50 players, as well as 5 games over 2 days, so I can expect to face a variety of opponents as well as a variety of armies. Every army other than Ogre Kingdoms will be represented, according to sign-ups. So how do you prepare for an 8th Edition Warhammer Fantasy tournament like this with so many variables? Well lets take a look at what you need in a successful Warhammer tournament army.

Chaos Legions Painting Progress; WIP Death Guard Shots
Old School here just to kick around some WIP photos from my Chaos Legions (I like the sound of that). The Iron Warrior and Black Legionnaire above are 100% done, while the Death Guard is about 85%. As I have messed around with my Chaos Marines for the last ... I think 4 years now (damn), I have tried on different themes and toyed around with different ideas, but one thing has always remained; I love all the original traitor legions in their current heretical state.
Instead of trying to fight it anymore by picking one and sticking to it, I am going to just make the models and paint the legions I want as I think they would look the best. I rather like this idea as all of the traitor legions have taken some serious hits in fighting over the last 10,000 years - so fighting together with loose and treacherous alliances makes sense and satifies my hobby needs too.
I have had some computer troubles recently, so I too some photos on my phone of the Plague Marine Squad I just revamped and if you aren't too picky about cell phone photos, here are some pics

Make Peace Through War: Holding it Together in The Dark Future
Old School here to say my piece on an idea SeerK brought up earlier today: Sometimes being too competitive can drag down a local scene when it gets out of control ... and I have to admit, I am a culprit, but that is about to change.

Eternity of War 6/17/11: Hive Fleet Kraken Eats Its Greens!
"My Momma Norn Queen always said 'Eat your greens'" - This photo comes from our friends on the East Coast (of Michigan), namely Muggins of Freshcoast 40k. This photo came from a huge Apoc game held at their FLGS: Gamers Sanctuary.

Storm of Magic = Amazing Creatures/ terrain, maybe even for 40k (pics inside)
Old School here with some photos from the upcoming Fantasy release: Storm of Magic! While the models are meant for WHFB, I always wonder what I could do with them for 40k. The least awesome of the offerings are in the top photo, though I like all of that stuff for a Chaos themed board - let's look at the photos below, because after all, we all get exited to see monstrous creatures!

Guest Post: Tournament Player 101
Tonight, I wanted to share a quick article from one of our local players concerning being prepared as a player for tournaments. I agree with most of it and think there are some pretty solid recommendations for new tourney players in here, so I decided to give Deathbringer the floor tonight for this rantish post.
Sisters of Battle Commission Complete!
After this army passed around the local scene it finally settled in the loving hands of a local player who wanted it to look awesome as well as just be awesome.

The Judge picked this up a while back and posted about how awesome it was and then promptly sold it. When he bought it I immediately said "You know, I'm a commission painter, right?" I've always had a secret love for sisters of battle and their crazy awesome codex (Yeah, that's right, I said it, go read their codex. AP 1 missiles? Yeah, they got it..)
I was allowed to have creative freedom and for some dumb reason said "Aw, dude, these would look awesome in white!" Opps.....
When doing this scheme I wanted to do a combination of pure and relics. Gold was used as a sign of purity (I'm catholic, I can't help but think that way. And yes, I felt guilty about this project, I can't help that either). The white armor also was for purity and then the bronze/tarnished weapons are a sign of them being revered artifacts.
Any how, here's the flood of pictures.

Eternity of War 6/9/11: Orks add a little boost, Fast and the Furious style
Rhellion's Gamelinks tourney performance!
Last weekend I participated in my first Warhammer 40,000 tournament in a LONG time at Gamelinks in Fowlerville, MI. I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed my games against 3 new opponents. As you can see, I was rusty to start off and played against an army I have never seen before twice, but in the end I felt like I still was competitive through the event.
My list was a Wolf Lord on TWC, 2 Rune Priests, 3 squads of Grey Hunters in drop pods, Scouts, Lone Wolf in terminator armor with a chainfist and storm shield, Wolf Guard with fists in squads, 3 TWC, and 1 squad of missile launcher Long Fangs.

The Beginning of the end of the beginning.... A new army on the horizon

As every hobbiest knows, at some point during their time playing the game, they become unhappy with how things currently are happening, on how their army performs, or how their color scheme is coming together.
Personally… I have none of these problems, I love my Imperial Guard. I love the models I use (mmmm D.K.K.), I love the multiple ways my army can be played, and almost every game I play I perform well, and win a good chunk, far far more than I lose, and I absolutely LOVE my dirty, grimy mud filled look my army has, no matter what others think or say about it (and thank you to those who appreciate it, and ask questions about it).

Tourney Time Tomorrow! Get You Butt Kickin Pants On!
Old School here to remind everyone that we are going to be hosting our first Tourney of the Summer tomorrow and more importantly, the first tournament ever at Game Links in Fowlerville MI. We have a ton of folks pre-registered and if you haven't yet, I already made the roster, so I recommend getting there early. The prizes are going to be pretty awesome and you are going to have a team of T.O.s from across the state of Michigan ready to make sure everything goes well.
I am sorry if you aren't local and hate reading this stuff, but this is what we live for locally! By the way, I am not linking this thing, so hit the widget in the middle right if you want to know more!
