Arabian Knights: Tallarn, Praetorian Old School Guard Army!
Old School here with a look at a Tallarn army I recently picked up that includes some very old models. I got the army from a dedicated hobbyist who quit the game in 3rd, but maintained this army in very pristine condition until finally we met and he made a deal with myself and Lord Commisar Vogrin. I apologize for the poor photo quality as I set the army up and then realized I was missing my real camera. These pics were taken by cell phone, but I think any old school player out there can appreciate this many Tallarn, Praetorian and Steel Legion models painted in force.

Converting Arachnarok into a Tervigon: Part 2, Along came a spider!
Old School here and I am making some progress with the conversion of the Arachnarok into a Tervigon. I went with the drider concept as you can see under the influence of the commenters and the authors here. I am pretty happy so far and have a few pics to share and some questions to ask of all the skilled converters out there, so let's dive in ...

Tuesday Top 10 in Honor of From The Warp and the Community that began there!
As everyone knows, Ron has retired from From the Warp for all the right reasons. The FTW blog will remain a great hub to check out the blogs in the FTW network, though there will be no more updates. This leaves quite a few regular features we have come to love, homeless. I don't know if DFG will make this a permanant thing, but I figured we would roll one out in honor of the legend himself, Ron.
Here is to you, friend and here are to the blogs who are doing great work and inspiring the world of gamers all thanks to the community Ron built for us!
Here are ten posts you MUST see in no particular order:

Usermail: A Couple Interesting Tyranid Conversions from Ryno40k
Old School here with a quick post from Ryno40k, a local player from the FLGS who boasts a fully painted Tau army as well as a rapidly growing Tyranid force. I recieved a text with some pics of a couple of very interesting Tyranid conversions he has in his army for his Tervigon and his Tyrannofex, which is a conversion I never really had thought of before ...

A Hive Guard and change in theme; DFG Paint Challenge Entry!
Old School here with another DFG Painting Challenge entry. This Hive Guard is my KP for this one and as you can see, I am changing my paintscheme away from Hive Fleet Kraken.

Converting Arachnarok into a Tervigon: Part 1 (Project Dryder)
Old School here and through the wonders of time-travel, DFG has possession of an Arachnarok (the huge spider from Fantasy) and I am hard at work turning this beauty into a Tervigon! I have literally just begun the process and have taken some photos of the actual Arachnarok sprue and have some questions for the readers to help guide me in this process.

A Wonderful Rivalry is Born!
The Yankees and the Red Sox. MSU and U of M, Bill Brasky and Chuck Norris, He-Man and Skeletor: all famous rivalries born in the fiery compassions of competitive spirit and more often than not, a few too many beers (Skeletor and He-man were buddies until that one night on snake mountain ...) and it is time for the state of Michigan to quake with the thunder of a new rivalry.

It Came From the Forums: Dezmord's Orks, IG, Tyranids, Daemons and CSM!
Old School here with another edition of It Came From the Forums. In this edition we are going to take a look at a sample of the enormous body of work laid forth by Warseer's Dezmord. This post contains a ton of pictures, sampling work from his Tyranids, Necrons, Vostroyans, Orks, CSM and Daemons.
Irregular IG Team Tourny list.... need some feedback

Ok folks, lately I have been a bit busy with a new job to be posting, but this coming Saturday I am participating in a team tournament that is in the style of DFG's End of Times tourny, however we only get to pick from Elite and Troop slots.
I will be teaming with GT from MI40k, and he is planning on bringing some pain with the Dark Eldar, and as you all know... I run guard... and pretty much only guard. So here are my three 1000 point list ideas..
An Often Overlooked Cover Save Trick
I was sitting around in my thinking room reading the 40k rule book and noticed a funny thing about cover saves. It would seem that people should be getting less cover saves than they have been getting...

I Need That Booty: Something I thought I'd never say about a Mini
For the last week or so, I have ignored the talk of the new WHFB giant spider kit being a perfect tervigon. First off, despite being a bug of sorts, it really doesn't look very tyranid-like. That, and the price tag really just turned me off ... and I am using the $25 tervigon project to teach myself Milliput sculpting techniques. Then, I saw the shot above on GW's site and I nearly sent it my wife's Valentine's Day card. That rear end has everything to do with what I would want a Tervigon's booty to look like ...

Quick Blood Angel Librarian Furioso Commission for FLGS!
Old School here with a quick commission job I did Pro Bono (if you laughed, look up the definiton, lol) for the FLGS. The job was supposed to be simple and to the theme of the codex art, so that's where I stayed.
Let's take a look at some pics.

TZEENTCH CHARIOT Comission Completion (pic heavy)
I just finished two Tzeench chariots for a local guy and just thought I 'd share the finished models with the DFG readers.

The $25 Tervigon Project Part 2: Baby Got Back!
Old School here with an update on the $25 Tervigon Project. Last night, I whipped out the rubber gloves and some milliput and had some fun (now that sounds nasty). Anyway, I have some pics of the upper carapce and the model as it stood, still dripping from last night's activities (nasty again), let's take a look:
DFG Painting Challenge: BA decend!
Today we have another hat thrown in the ring for the Challenge. I will admit that this whole idea grew from the seed that he mentioned when we played a while back.

Greetings everyone. I've known CVinton for years now as an acquaintance and had the fortune last month to get my first game in with him at a LFGS. He mentioned that he was a contributor to this blog during our game so I thought I'd check it out. Needless to say, I like what I see so I thought I'd offer some contributions of my own through DFG's painting project.

Finished Imperial Guard Vendetta
With all the hu-bub of the work in progress of the salamanders I haven't lost track of the guard. Last night I put the finishing touches to actually complete one of my vendettas and wanted to share it with the blogsphere.
How-to: Awesome Vehicle wreck markers
As a guard player, I have a lot of vehicles....scratch that...I have A TON of vehicles so explosions are inevitable. So I've come up with a simple solution to the "..or a suitable piece of terrain." statement in the rule book.

I made all ten of these wreck craters in about 3 hours total from start to finish. These are updates form my old markers that were just really quickly thrown together from foam core board and sand. They did the job these do, but were falling apart and warped bad when I made them so I figure if I had to make more I was going the whole nine yards with these markers. And let me tell you, they turned out awesome.

The $25 Tervigon Project: Part 1
Old School here and I am embarking on a project that may either be genius or may be so stupid that I may get carted away and locked up for crimes against modeling! I have challenged myself to build a Tervigon on a budget of $25 max with the exception of any bits I have laying around. So far I have invested $3.99 on a foam egg and $15.98 on packages of Milliput Grey/Yellow. Now, to achieve this on a budget as well as to seperate the creature's appearance from the Carnifex, Tyrant ect, I am going for a disgusting wormy look. Let's take a look at what I am talking about.
Gruesome Space Wolves Las/Plas Razorback WIP
OST here ... So I was sitting at work, um, working, when I recieved an interesting series of pics from our own SAMSQUANTCH MONSTER and immediately my hackles went up! Right there, in my own phone were images of the Emperor's Dogs standing atop a razorback covered in the corpses of Chaos Space Marines! I then scrolled through and there were even more photos of this tank and its crew.
Craftworld Lansing Celebrates its Anniversary with The Test of Khaine!
As SeerK at Crafteworld Lansing signs every post: Blood Runs, Anger Rises, Death Wakes, War Calls. And call it does! The tournament is set to be an 1850 no-nonsense tourney where the victor will be honored as a god of War (and maybe get some prizes, lol) and the best painted will also be judged! Here is a quote from SeerK on the tourney:
In celebration of the upcoming 1 year anniversary of Craftworld Lansing I have decided to host a tournament at the FLGS Evolution Games. So head over to Craftwold Lansing, locals. Follow the blog for updates and FAQs and stick around for Seerk's articles as well, I think you will enjoy his adventures in the world of silly, pointy eared, pajama wearing space-elves (some of whom may or may not do cocaine).
"The Test Of Khaine" Will be held at Evolution games in Lansing Michigan on March 19th. It will be an 1850 point tournament using the Standard force organization chart. Models do not have to be painted, but it is encouraged as I will be awarding a trophy for the best painted model as chosen by the participants. The models must be WYSIWIG. Counts as will be allowed as long as the models are the same size as what they are representing. I will be posting a FAQ as questions are asked and I flesh out the details.
Registration will be starting at 11 a.m. and Dice will start rolling slightly after noon. I will have pre registration information at the beginning of March. Please feel free to email me for questions.

It Came From the Forums: Marco Schulze's Hive Fleet Moloch!
Old School here with tons of photos of what might be the best Hive themes I have ever seen. Of course I am talking about the work of Warpshadow's own Marco Schulze and his Hive Fleet Moloch. If you are wondering if you should click the "Read More" link, this gruesome creature above is only an objective marker in this fantastic army! Now let's take a look at the pics!
Question for the Community; Do You Think There is a Meta Game?
Old School here with a Question for the Community concerning the existence of the Metagame. The metagame is defined as a source of influence into the game that is not directly related to the rules, rather the metagame is a web of unit choices, combinations, USR and common army list builds that a player may percieve to be common enough at any given time to influence the type of army, army list and tactics he or she may use.

Sarcasm May Net You Prizes! Witty Contest!
Old School here to help get the word out about a potentially hilarious contest being held over at Sons of Taurus; Hyberbowl 2011. The contest will call for wit and sarcasm on a level often reserved for after-game bull-sessions at the FLGS and if you have what it takes to win, Sons of Taurus will reward you in models! What is this all about, you say? Let's take a look ...
