Re-Tooling My Tyranids: From Fexes back to Tyrants

Old School here to talk about some recent changes I have made to my Tyranid list and why I decided to make those changes. First off, I would like to give credit to Scab over on the Tyranid Pro-Boards for the great Tyrant image I used for this post!

Two Ogre Kingdoms Test Ogres

Old School here reporting between brutal homework sessions with what little paint I can throw down. I want to throw out a few pics of a couple of test ogres I have painted up (at least enough to post for feedback). They are simple and straight to the point.

New and Future Releases From MaxMini show Promise!

Old School here to walk you through some of the upcoming and currently released stuff from MaxMini that has really caught my eye. First up is the Alien Spore Pod, which is still unreleased at the moment, but has a great organic feel that speaks to the current spirit of the Tyranid Models. I think it looks great and while I know some people are not fans of the 'egg look', I think this may even tickle their fancy. Here is a video review of the kit from Youtube:

Quick Ogre Butcher Conversion Shot

Old School here with a quick phone shot of an Ogre Butcher I have in the works. Here is the result of about a half hours work between homework assignments. Don't worry, this is but a taste of what I have cooking for this model. There is much sculpting ahead, I just felt like shooting this out to the world from my phone real quick!

Old School's 'Ard Boyz Semi Finals Results

Old School here a little late with my 'Ard Boyz write up. First off, I would like to thank the Game Vault in Fredericksburg, VA for throwing a very professional and fun Semi Finals (thanks for the pizza too, lol). I can say that, without a doubt, this was the best 'Ard Boyz I have played in yet and not just because I did pretty well this year, either. First, let's take a look at where everyone stood when the smoke cleared ...

Heading Into Ard Boyz Semis with the Death Wing

Well, I step off tomorrow in search of 'Ard Boyz glory with the Death Wing at Game Vault tomorrow and I have the pre-tourney jitters as always. I will be rolling the same list I ran in the pre-lims and I feel pretty good about it. I always second guess myself prior to tournies, but it is always the list I question and never my skills. Regardless of what goes down, my plan is to have fun playing 3 games of 40k and if I make it to the top, then I make it.
That is really it. I am not going to stand for any drama from fellow players (as I think we have had enough of that in the blogosphere lately) and I hope my skills speak for themselves. If not, I will simply brush my shoulder off and march off at least having three good games. I will try the best I can to live blog from the event, but sometimes Blogger.Droid is less than cooperative when it comes to posting. Other than that, my brother from another mother, CVinton will also be playing the semis half way across the country, so wish us luck!

Death Wing Apothecary Reporting for Duty!

Old School here with another dose of Death Wing goodness, this time, I will give you a couple shots of my Apothecary (ok, enough puns), but seriously, another command squad member down and until I get my hands on my Huron, this will be the last non-production line DW terminator I crank out. It's all gravy from here on! Let's take a look:

'Ard Boyz musings

Its a week away.  Ard boyz semifinals.  I've been tossing and turning with my list and the minor adjustments and I think I've settled and wanted to probe our readers for some input.

Target Priority

A few weeks ago I was playing a big game with OST and some out of town friends who had a pretty basic grasp of the game but still required some teaching and coaching.  I was inspired about target priority and thought I'd share my knowledge as a three year IG player.  OST was the catalyst because he talked to me after and said he doesn't exercise target priority the way I did.  Of course, it turned into a blog post brainstorm and finally now that life has normalized after the school year started its time to put it in digital ink.

Death Wing Company Banner Bearer Complete!

Old School here, finally cutting through the homework of the course I am currently in and making some progress on my Death Wing. A couple weeks ago, I hit everyone here with a quick WIP of this guys here, so I just wanted to make sure, i fired off a quick post about the completed model (of course as soon as I look at the pics, I notice things I need to tough up or fix). Enjoy the pics:

End of Days Coming Soon, Need Your Feedback!

The Dark Lords of DFG are looking to hold the 2nd Annual End of Days Tournament on the last Saturday in October, but we are looking for some feedback before we get too exited and spill out all the new mission ideas and such that we have. Below is the poster we ran last year. If you click it, you can see it very large or you can get the details from this post.

Never Forget

Old School here to take a brake from wargaming to ask you all to take a moment to reflect on 9/11 and the people who died in the attacks, their families and their children. If this topic is unsettling or if you disagree with the ideas presented, then kindly move on. Please keep in your thoughts the brave first responders who sacrificed their lives or their health attempting to rescue victims. Also keep in your thoughts, the passengers of Flight 93, who fought and paid with their lives. Please never forget the more than 6,100 U.S. servicemembers who gave their lives and the more than 44,000 wounded from OIF and OEF.

Ogre Kingdoms: Thundertusk kit review with tons of pics!

Old School here and yesterday I decided to build the Thundertusk. Why? You say? I really wanted a beast that could help support my army since it is already good at beating on the little people of the Warhammer world AND I know that everyone is going to be building the super-sexy Stonehorn and I just wanted to be different! Let's take a look at this prehistoric mammal!

Ogre Kingdoms: Ironblaster Kit Review with Pics

Old School here to take a look at the Ogre Kingdoms Ironblaster kit. I got the chance to build this model yesterday, so why not show off some pics and kick the tires a bit?

First off, like all the new plastic kits from GW, the overall quality and fit of the plastic was great. There was nothing that needed to be fit together that was odd or miscalculated. Furthermore, many of the parts that fit together would have little bumps or 'teeth' that would fit in divots one the opposite piece. This made it easy to line up two halves of the same plastic piece (I wish they would do that for some of the Eldar vehicles).  Aside from that, the kit came with a giant fold out set of instructions that made it fairly easy to figure out where everything is.

Oh Snap! Lookie What I got! A Fat Lot of Ogres!

Old School here and it looks like they made a Fantasy Player out of my after all. By they, I mean the big fat jerks known as the Ogres. These guys have bullied their way into my head over the last month or so and after a few games of Fantasy, I had to have them.

A Simple Plastic Chaplain Conversion for my Dark Angels

Old School here with a quick little post about the plastic chaplain I made for my Dark Angels. I know I am playing Death Wing right now, but that may not always be the case for the 1st Legion, so while I was waiting for the floor to dry in my room (I mopped, don't get too exited), I whipped this Chaplain together out of extra bits from the small supply I brought to Virginia from home.
