New Blood Angels

Capt. Obvious here..

So after seeing everyone getting excited about starting new armies i decided it was time to put the Dark Eldar down for a few months and try something new. I got my hands on the Blood Angels codex and decided to whip a list up and see what happened. I had a good idea of what i wanted after i read through it. I made a 1850 list and this is what it was. I don't know the exact points cost but it was 1847ish if a remember off had.

Sanguinor

3 Priests of Sang. w/ Single Lightening Claw (each one ran with a squad)

3 x 9 man assault squads with Sgt. w/ Power fist and a melta gun mounted in a Rhino

3 Vindicators

3 Baal Predators with Big Big Flamer (S6 AP3)

First game was against our local Deamon player. Game started out very strong for me. Started by basicly wiping out his first wave of troops including a Deamon Prince. This was my down fall. I neglected to pay attention to what was coming in next. I was over whelmed by Flamers of Tzinch and lost basicly all my troop choices. We both had some horrible rolling going on so there was horrible upsets for both sides. Reguardless of the loss i still felt it was a strong list.

My next game was against our up and coming necron player. This game started strong for both of us. Right off the bat i laid 3 pie plates on the monolith and immoblized it. Set up for turn 2 assaults on a bunch of warriors. His first turn consisted of him turning my wall of AV13 into a pile of rubble. My next turn put some massive hurt on the crons. Got 2 Baal preds in each on seperate table edges, which was exactly what i wanted. He had 2 warrior squads nicley setup for me to template the hell out of them. And that is exactly what happened. Warriors started droppping like crazy, what wasnt left was then assaulted by the mass of furious charging, FNP, +1 attack Marines. Didnt go well for the crons. a 20 man squad was wiped and the marines consolidated back to there fast transports. Necron turn 3 ended with some upsets and his heavy destroyers dropping a transport. Attempted to put some wounds on Sanguinor but failed due to his massive 3+ inv. Game was pretty much set to end on my turn 5, i held 2 objs to his 0, and we didnt have time to play out turn 6, even though we rolled it. Wouldnt have mattered he new it was a pointless effort as he was going to get phased out. A tac squad was setup to assault his few warriors left and Sanguinor was setup to hit the lord and the immortals he was with, which was the squad i picked for his reroll hits and wounds.

All in all i was very impressed with this list, mainly because its what i wanted to run, had a plan with the list and it plays to that plan perfectly.

An Introduction is in order...

Hello Dark Future Game readers, as the latest addition to DFG's group of contributers I figured I would slowly begin to work out with you a few things. First off I am and always will be an Imperial Guard player... you may see me wander from time to time to test out various armies, or to paint some as... well... lets face it, guard are not the most detailed models about.

However my job is to tell you more about them, how each individual unit has played out in the field, how much they are or are not worth their points and what sort of tactics work and which seem to fail horribly.

Also, I will be doing a few painting posts as well as some conversion postings. I am personally a Death Korps of Krieg fan and have been slowly assembling my models and painting them and my next project is to convert some regular old Ogryns to DKK Ogryns... hello feared green stuff here I come...

This past weekend the boys from DFG and I were all at Adepticon representing our local game store Evolution Games, and this site. I personally competed in the Combat Patrol and Team Tournament doing decent in both but definitely not coming close to an award in the latter, perhaps next year eh? The combat patrol I put in a good showing at least, minus some issues with the judges that was a -lot- of fun to play in and everyone playing seemed to be having a -great- time. If you haven't had a combat patrol tournament at your local hobby store I would definitely get on your tournament organizers to do so! Besides, even the newest players in the shop will be able to get their armies assembled and painted in time!

Until next time, burn some heretics, kill some mutants, and do it as always...

FOR THE EMPORER!

Artist of the Week! Tim's Centurions from Adepticon!

The Artist of the Week this week is from Adepticon, his name is Tim and his army is full of amazing conversions that stopped every person who walked by. His Centurion themed Space Wolf list was my personal favorite from Adepticon and is a reminder of what I love about our Hobby. Tim, you inspired me to have a beautiful army for next year! Maybe I can buy you a beer! And if you are out there, please tell us all about the conversions. The readers are all ears!

Photos from the 1850 championship - very nice!

Hi, sorry it took so long to get this up, but ATT internet is very slow. Anyway, wanted to put up some photos of the armies from the 1850 Champ tourney. Bothe the Emporer and Horus were there along with some amazing armies. Sadly, Capt. Obvious' army was left out because I took them for granted since I see them all the time - oh well, C.O. will get over it and post his army himself.
.
On with the photos! Above is the Thunderwolf Cav counts as from the Centurion list!

Goatboy's Space Goats! Looking forward to the Goat Angels ...

An Eldar exodite dragon army so awesome that I posted two photos.

Bushido Red Panda's List! This one included Horus and Mortarian!

Possibly the best traitor guard army there!

Incredible Necrons!

This was hands down the best Death Guard I saw at Adepticon this year.

GMM Studio's Scallywagon! This is the coolest looking paintjob and conversion on an army I have ever seen in person - YOU WILL GOOGLE IT!!!

Space Wolf Las/Plas - nod to Stelek ...

These Dark Eldar were nice. The raiders had the top hook underneath the vic instead of on top, giving them a very menacing look!

The Centurions - Simply amazing and incredible work. I had to pick the artist's brain two more times before I left the state of Illonois.

The Emporer and his Custodes!

The Emporer's Posse!

Squats and Squat bikers!

Silver skulls - one of my favorite DIY Marine armies.

More Nids.

Dave Taylor's Traitors.

... and last but not least, Space Rats. Not a fan of rats in space but the Defilers are amazing! Comments welcome as always - especially from the artists!

Adepticon!

Huzzahh! The trip out with the guys was filled with shenanigans, mishaps and drunken debauchery! It was great and I invite everyone who didn't come this year to go next year and Hangout with us!

In the mean time we'll be busy trying to keep you entertained here with our usual blabbing about our plastic drug.

On that note instead of just yammering on and on and repeating the Eldar Tactica that I'm sure is already posted everywhere I'll be focusing more on requested Topics for my writing, nay-smithing and all that. While I don't have the painting or modeling expertise of Vinton or Old School I'm reasonably experienced with List building of all sorts, a fluff fanatic, and a conversion Junkie.

In short you can send requests to see a tactica on a particular unit or themed army or something for a tourney. Even if it's just to see another person agree with you or gain a new perspective I'll write about somethings good and bad qualities.

If you're stumped on how to make a particular model or army with a certain theme I'll bump heads with everyone else from DFG and we'll get some new ideas flowing.

And even though I've only posted so far about Eldar, I have a lot experience both playing and assembling, Space Marines of all sorts from 4th Edition traits to the current Space Wolves and Blood Angels , Imperial Guard, Tyranids, Tau and even some experience about Orks and Chaos Marines and Daemons though that mostly consists of conversions or at different points being stomped by them.

Just drop me or Old School a line, my email is in my profile.

The Tervogons of Adepticon, part 2!

Old School here with more great Tervigons from the floor at Adepticon!

Alright the last one isn't a Tervi, but it is awesome! Enjoy!

Adeptus Windy City Invitational tourney at Adepticon!

Alright folks, now that my hangover is gone, I can post! Last night the boys from Adeptus Windy City held their own invitational tourney for their top eight players. The guys were all pretty cool and all had a pretty good head on their shoulders when it comes to the game. I just wanted to throw some photos up along with what I can remember about the games I saw while I was there. The army above is a Critical Mass-inspired army that went undefeated during the tourney. The player said that next time, he wants to try Stelek's fast, slow army!

Here is another Wolf army from a player who took advantage of the cavalry option available to SW.

And here is a nicely painted Necron Deciever/Monolith army.

... and here is a Death Guard army (which I saw pretty much get tabled by the las/plas SW)

- A nicely painted SM biker army.

Here is Farseer Phil's Eldar Walker/Vyper list - which boasted triple digits worth of S6 shots a turn!

And last but not least is the very nicely painted Ork army of Red Beard! It was a pleasure to meet these guys and to see them play. You could really tell that they were all familiar with each other and had a lot of fun. Comments are welcome as always!

Amazing Combat Patrol Armies from Adepticon!

Combat Patrol this year has to be my underdog favorite event. The players really came with beautiful armies and really impressed me with the work put into their armies. Here are some photos of the ones that really caught my eye!

These Centurians were out of control and were easily the best painted models there in my opinion. When I asked how he achieved the colors and the overall look, his explanation blew my mind as a painter. I hope he didn't smell my brain frying!

This army here was funky, but I really liked it. Basically it uses Chaos Dwarf models to represent guardsmen and the Speeder-type vehicles represent a chimera and two hydras - I really liked the concept and can't wait to see this army in the Team Tourney!

Great Eldar!

This army is the Grot Revolushun! This list is both hilarious and cool. The tank is a killa kan, the little grots that look commissars are the runtherds!

Awesome plague Marines.

Hilarious storm boyz themed army!

This Guard army is beautiful with lots of attention to detail in the painting and great tread and turret conversions on the tanks!

This Templar Army is pretty nice, but the plastic chaplain and the servitor conversions make it really cool and nicely themed.
Your comments are welcome and if one of these is yours, speak up! Maybe we can arrange an interview!
